Isle of Mull Cheddar (250g)
Produced at Sgriob-ruadh Farm near Tobermory on the Isle of Mull, this farmhouse cheddar is a definitive staple of the Scottish larder. Crafted by the Reade family using traditional methods, the unpasteurised cheese is cloth-bound and aged in underground cellars for up to eighteen months.
Because the dairy herd is partly fed on spent malt barley from the local distillery, the cheese develops a sharp profile with subtle, fruity undertones. It yields a crumbly, crystalline texture and a rich, savoury finish.
Offering a robust addition to a tasting board, this cheese pairs naturally with traditional oatcakes, fruit preserves, or a smoky island malt whisky.
